Southport Broadwater Parklands

Southport Broadwater Parklands

Southport Broadwater Parklands is a world-class community and cultural parkland on the Gold Coast. It is a much-loved destination that won the 2023 AILA QLD Landscape Architecture Award for Play Spaces and the People’s Choice Award.

The project’s layered design draws on the Broadwater environment for inspiration. At the heart of the parklands is a vast expanse of green that is ideal for family picnics and fun. The Great Lawn hosts some of the city’s most popular events, including the Gold Coast Marathon, Mayor’s Christmas Carols and Monster Machinery Day.

The parklands feature facilities and attractions for visitors of all ages, including three separate playgrounds, each with a different offering:

The Peninsula Playground is a brand-new play space surrounded by lush subtropical landscaping with ample space for small groups and larger gatherings. Its centrepiece is a spiral tower over four levels with interactive play equipment.

The Adventure Play Attraction is in the park’s centre near The Rockpools. This playground caters to younger children with a make-believe pirate ship and interactive learning and play equipment.

Washington Waters Play Attraction sits adjacent to the Australia Fair shopping mall. Here, visitors can soar through the air on the Flying Fox, take a tandem pedal ride on the monorail or bounce on the giant inflatable bouncy pillow.

The parklands offer beautiful promenades for those seeking relaxation, perfect for walking, cycling, or rollerblading. There are also designated barbecue areas with Christie communal barbecues and picnic spots to gather and enjoy a meal while enjoying the scenic views.
