Nestled in the scenic Noosa Hinterland, the Cooroy Hinterland Adventure Playground offers a captivating outdoor experience for families and adventurers alike. The all-abilities playground, designed by Form Landscape Architects and Urbis and for Noosa Shire Council, is a testament to the thoughtful design that blends seamlessly with the natural environment.

The agricultural and manufacturing history of the Cooroy region inspires the playground design. The vision was to create a physical and metaphorical connection between Cooroy’s main street and the historic lower mill site, creating a space that provides fun and excitement and encourages exploration and appreciation of the natural surroundings. The immersive play experience won “Excellence for Play Spaces” and “Regional Achievement” at the 2023 AILA State Awards.

The playground features an array of custom play equipment for children of all ages and abilities. These include a giant treehouse inspired by the towering trees of the hinterland, Rope Courses that mimic the web-like patterns found in nature, an interactive water play area, and inclusive play zones where children of all abilities can participate, with accessible swings, sensory play panels, and smooth pathways.

The Noosa Cooroy Hinterland Adventure Playground is more than just a playground. It is an invitation to explore the outdoors. Shaded picnic tables and seating areas are strategically placed to offer comfort while taking in the stunning views of the hinterland. Families looking to make a day of it can extend their visit with several well-maintained public barbecues. These facilities are perfect for social gatherings, providing a communal space where visitors can cook and enjoy meals together in a picturesque setting.
