Legacy Park Community Hub
Legacy Park is a key feature in Hobart City Council’s initiative to rejuvenate the riverside Queens Domain. Legacy is a national charity devoted to supporting the families of deceased and incapacitated veterans. The park is named in honour of Tasmania’s World War One soldiers service to their country. Funded by local, state, and federal governments, the area was developed to improve visitor facilities and provide one of the city’s best playgrounds.

Kangaroo Bay Pavilion
The award-winning Kangaroo Bay Pavilion includes a bespoke shelter, accessible communal barbecues and changing facility, and storage. One of Hobart’s iconic public open spaces, it was recently redeveloped by Clarence Valley Council as part of their Kangaroo Bay Urban Design Plan. The community space’s excellent design won both the ‘Small Project Architecture Award” and the “Alan C Walker Award” at the 2019 Tasmanian Architecture Awards.

Royal Park Playground
Royal Park is home to extensive recreation amenities, including picnic areas with communal barbecue facilities, Melbourne Zoo, a nature playground, and some of Victoria’s most established playing fields and sporting clubs. The largest of Melbourne’s inner-city parks, the 181-hectare (447 acre) site was reserved in 1854 for recreation purposes by Governor La Trobe. 1000 Steps Walk Dandenong Ranges National Park
A popular day-trip destination, picnic areas near the ever-popular 1000 Steps trail offers visitors picnic settings and public barbecues, including wheelchair accessible options. As well as bushwalkers and those enjoying a leisurely family day out, the trail is a popular early morning destination for fitness enthusiasts, and to famously train for walking the Kokoda Trail in New Guinea. 2018 Commonwealth games village
During the 2018 Commonwealth Games, the $550 million Athletes Village and parklands housed 6,600 international athletes and officials. Challenger Building 565 Bourke Street
Bourke Street’s Challenger office building recently underwent a major rejuvenation that includes shared commercial barbecues for staff. A former commercial hub for trading fruit and oil and now owned by Challenger Investment Management, the refurbishment raises the bar for the design and function of workplace common areas. Industrial themes throughout include polished concrete, timber and brass facades, and black powder coated finishes. On the fifth floor, a sunny north facing deck features our stainless steel, all-abilities communal barbecue.

Aquatopia Waterpark
Fairfield City Council has turned up the thrill factor at Aquatopia Water Park in Prairewood, New South Wales. Commissioned to design and construct the project, Complete Urban have brought to life the Council’s vision to provide Fairfield City with a great leisure facility for local families and young people. Taking summer fun to a whole new level, five new water slides have been constructed to enhance the existing water play and adventure park amenities. This includes a 20 metre slide tower and Fishpipe, the only one of its kind in the state. Complementary facilities include a number of Christie Modular Series commercial barbecues and picnic facilities, shade structures, seating, and pool side cabanas available for private hire.

The contemporary design of Booran Road Reserve incorporates access and activities for all ages and abilities. This former reservoir has been transformed into one of Melbourne’s best playgrounds and while it reflects its past life through touch, smell, sight and sound, the designers have ensured that a broad range of amenities is available for the whole community to enjoy. One if the many spaces dedicated to picnics includes a Christie modular electric park barbecue with extra bench space for food preparation. St. Kevin’s College - Tooronga sports field
Modular series stainless steel community barbecues can be configured to suit specific sites and functional requirements, and are also available in standard powder coated mild steel colours. For the St Kevin’s College sports complex, three separate barbecue modules were installed to provide two cooktops for grilling, ample bench space for food preparation, and a sink. The stainless-steel panels provide a modern aesthetic and sleek, low maintenance finish. The state of the art facilities are the largest privately owned, fully synthetic facility in Australasia and feature a range of sporting activities across the 32,000m² of synthetic grass and 4,600 m² of rubberised surfacing.

Rosebud Foreshore
The all-abilities playground on Mornington Peninsula’s Rosebud foreshore was constructed to cater to the growing community and as part of Council’s “Destination Rosebud” campaign, encouraging high level of use in the summer months. The park includes a large feature mound with scramble rocks, stair cases, rope pulls and various play elements. It also features several Christie commercial barbecues, together with shelters and seating, allowing for a great day out for the whole family. Our A Series all-access barbecue was specified to provide a truly inclusive amenity for wheelchair users, while custom barbecues with blue stone surround complement the overall design.

Kwinana Adventure Playground
The Kwinana Adventure Park is an example of community consultation on design, ensuring that everyone is catered for. School children, Rotary Club members, and residents were consulted. The park enables interaction with nature, creating a sense of adventure and fun, while encouraging users to interact with every aspect of the space. We supplied three double Christie BBQ’s for the project, including two Brickwork Bench kits, beautifully finished in in local stone. Our A Series all-access barbecue rounds out the barbecue amenities, meeting the project vision of a fully inclusive space through its wheelchair friendly and child-safe design.

Townsville Foreshore
Townsville Foreshore has long been a very popular tourist area, containing a number of custom park barbecues, shelters, and other open space amenities. During an extensive upgrade to the park facilities and in a testament to their durability and flexibility in a corrosive environment, Council elected to retro-fit our brand-new high-efficiency cooktops and access doors into a large number of existing brick-in barbecue surrounds. The drop-in cooktops had the added benefit of fitting neatly into the existing bench spaces, which did not have to be altered in any way.

Bibra Lake Regional Playground
The Bibra Lake adventure playground is an all-abilities play environment with wheelchair accessible public barbecues in the shade of beautiful trees on the banks of Bibra Lake. The playground offers a number of play opportunities for all capabilities and incorporates a broad range of elements, including swings and flying foxes, balance beams, trampolines, and water play. The environment is further enhanced by a range of accessible facilities including group picnic nodes, toilet facilities, and barbecues. The picnic nodes incorporate accessible table setting and our award-wining, universal access Christie A Series barbecue, completing a truly accessible environment.
