Kangaroo Bay Pavilion

The popular Kangaroo Bay Pavilion in Hobart won multiple awards at the 2019 Tasmanian Architecture Awards.

The linear park combines active and passive recreation amenities, public art installations, and walking trails. The Pavilion includes a bespoke shelter with changing facilities, storage, and shared cooking facilities with two wheelchair-accessible barbecues.

Filled with wooden sailing boats and draped netting facing the Derwent River, the nearby playground draws connections to the local area’s rich fishing history. The view is varied and compelling, with the mass of sailing boats positioned in the cove against Mt Wellington’s as a backdrop.
