Sir Joseph Banks Park
A standout for inclusive design and quality amenities
Bayside Council’s Sir Joseph Banks Park Adventure Playground in Botany, NSW has become a standout community destination, combining imaginative play spaces, inclusive design, and high-quality public amenities.
Local families and children helped shape the new playground, working with Jeavons Landscape Architects, project teams, and council partners. The playground now has nature play areas, climbing equipment, accessible paths, picnic spots, and shaded spaces to help people stay longer and connect with others.
At the centre of the space, the public barbecues play an important role in how the community uses the park. More than just an amenity, they help turn the park into a social hub where families, friends, sporting groups, and visitors can gather, celebrate, and spend time together.
The project reflects a growing focus on creating public spaces that are inclusive, welcoming, and built around shared community experiences where public barbecues continue to play a key role in bringing people together.
