Caldew Park
Caldew Park
Caldew Park has long been a special place for local families and community groups. Affectionately known as the “Train Park”, it is an oasis from the nearby Hobart CBD. The recipient of many excellent online reviews, the wide range of amenities is a hit with visitors.
The Train Park first rose to fame among pre-schoolers thanks to a traction engine built into a wooden playground structure in the late 1990s. In 2003 Council removed the engine, but the train theme remained, with new play structures and artwork installed around the theme.
@hobart City Council routinely refreshes the popular amenities. Most recently they upgraded the barbecue facilities, installing two Christie cooktops into built-in structures featuring mosaic artwork. The barbecues serve as the centrepiece to the parks catering area.
