Donald Mclean Reserve

Revitalising Donald Mclean Reserve: A Model of Inclusivity and Community Engagement.

Donald Mclean Reserve has been redeveloped, thanks to the West Gate Tunnel Project and Hobson’s Bay City Council. Whether seeking a spot for a family outing or an engaging playground for children of all abilities, the park offers ample facilities for everyone.

The Reserve’s layout and amenities ensure a great experience for everyone. Accessibility is paramount, with accessible pathways connecting vital areas, including playgrounds, barbecue facilities, and sports amenities. Ramps are strategically positioned for seamless entry and exit, ensuring inclusivity for all visitors.

Children delight in the park’s expansive playground, tailored for exploration and play by children of all ages and abilities. From inclusive swings to climbing structures with accessible ramps, every child can enjoy outdoor recreation. The most famous part is a ‘learn to ride’ bicycle track with little traffic signs for the kids.

Outdoor exercise equipment includes an innovative senior’s exercise park. Promoting physical activity for older family and friends, this area brings everyone together for an uplifting and fun outdoor experience. The Reserve is also home to the local football, cricket, and golf clubs, so enthusiasts can enjoy various sports facilities, including basketball and tennis courts or a friendly soccer game on the expansive fields.

Strategically placed to facilitate communal gatherings, the barbecue facilities feature our ICON wheelchair-accessible cabinet and accessible picnic tables, enabling everyone to enjoy an outdoor meal. Thoughtful pathway design ensures clear access to each barbecue area, enhancing ease of navigation for all visitors.
