The Canopy in Lane Cove

The Canopy in Lane Cove is one of Sydney’s most vibrant community spaces. The precinct offers a unique urban experience for the growing community of Lane Cove while embracing the village atmosphere and natural landscape characteristics the suburb prides itself on. Keeping the human experience at the forefront, the design focused on maintaining a large functional open space, of ample scale for anticipated community use.

Lane Cove’s space is focused on retaining the village look and feel with a variety of amenities. The precinct features a town square where people can sit and pass through the area. The Village Green area provides the opportunity for passive recreation and on occasions, stage performances. The Canopy playground incorporates water, sand and timber elements and plentiful seating that allows easy surveillance for parents. The Eat Street retail and shared zone with restaurants that include indoor and outdoor seating. And finally, the northern garden area includes shelters, picnic settings, a variety of smaller seating areas, and Christie commercial barbecues. The timber play equipment, steppingstones and paths are designed for younger children to explore.
